Activating Windows Vista

If you have a problem in activating your new Windows Vista installation online, you may get following error code :

• Activation fails with error code 0×8004FE33. Refer here.

Microsoft support information on website is not very usefull in fixing this:

Method 1 (Do not use Basic authentication) does not work, if you are in office and in office domain because you will not have access to modify proxy server.

Method 2 (Use the telephone to activate Windows) doenot have adequate information to get the activation id. You may keep searching for getting activation id but you will never find if you are connected to the network.

Follow these steps to activate your OS:

1. Disconnect from internet and select activate option again.
2. Now you will get one more option of “Other Option”.
3. On selecting “Other Option”, you will option to activate it over phone, where you can select the country.
4. Next page will provide you support phone numbers for that country along with 8 peice activation id
5. Use the activation key whey you dial the phone for activating the OS!

Image Localization :)

Yesterday I was having discussion with my team for externalizing all labels and strings of the our new application in development, so that it is easy to localize the application for different languages. The application that we are currently working deals extensively with graphs and images.

While having all this discussion I had an spontaneous idea what if it is possible to localize images… Well this sounds rather absurd to localize images. Consider this, if you have your image in an application configured for Africa, and you want to localize it for China, so how will your image change… Your localization should be intelligent enough to shrink you in size, change color of your skin to white, make your eyes small…

Is this possible to localize images? Well I guess ‘Yes’… because nothing is impossible, only we need to wait for it for someone to develop it.
